Canonical and QCT partnership extends to next-generation managed cloud

  • Bootstack now available on QCT Hardware
  • Bundled proposition reduces cloud deployment from months to days

Canonical and QCT (Quanta Cloud Technology) have extended their collaboration by bundling the most innovative managed cloud services, based on Ubuntu reference architecture on QCT hardware.

Canonical’s reference architecture is designed for success, distilled from the hundreds of OpenStack clouds deployed on Ubuntu OpenStack (64% of all production environments according to the latest OpenStack Foundation survey) and built to accommodate the whole range of different workloads.

In conjunction with QCT, we have defined an ideal physical implementation of this logical architecture of all OpenStack components – bundling software and hardware together to help our customers take the first step to implement their own OpenStack cloud.

This bundled value proposition, to be commercialized by QCT, has already been validated by several customers. The result is a significant reduction in the time it takes to bring the solution to market – from months to days – as the hardware and network topology are already certified and thoroughly tested for any size of datacenter and optimizing the usage of the resources of your cloud.

QCT will resell BootStackas part of the agreement.

“Customers want to deploy OpenStack with partners they know and trust,” said Mike Yang, general manager of QCT “Partnering with Canonical to deliver BootStack on QCT hardware means that datacenter customers can combine a leading OpenStack distro with a leading hyperscale hardware partner, giving their infrastructure consumers reliable, high-performance and cost-effective OpenStack cloud services, deployed rapidly and supported globally.”

“When we launched BootStack, our now successful managed cloud service, we were looking into allowing customers to consume OpenStack clouds in any datacenter of their choice; removing the pain of having to deploy it and operate it, making the adoption of this new technology easier.” Arturo Suarez, Product Strategist/Manager, said. “By adding the flexibility and reliability of QCT hardware and services as a bundled option we take one more step towards that OpenStack easiness we pursue.”

Designing and sizing OpenStack for success: The right reference hardware on the right reference architecture

Designing your cloud with the right hardware is a critical decision you need to make when adopting OpenStack. It’s essential that you get it right or your cloud project go up in smoke!

In this webinar, we will explore some of the different design options for your OpenStack cloud and what hardware decisions you must make to be successful.

Using real-world case studies, our expert team will explain how running Ubuntu’s reference architecture for OpenStack, on standardized open hardware, reduces the margin of error in the earliest stages of your cloud initiative.
