From the desktop and datacenter, to the cloud and the edge, Intel and Canonical collaborate to deliver solutions that enable you to innovate and build at any scale. Our partnership brings together the innovation of open source technology with the peace of mind of comprehensive security.

Validated solutions
for key verticals

Reliable. Secure. Robust. Canonical and Intel deliver enterprise-grade software and hardware solutions. We collaborate to optimize our solutions and deliver out-of-the-box solutions that are performant in the long term.

Choose to strengthen your patching and security processes by opting in to 12 years of maintenance updates with Ubuntu Pro.

Discover how Canonical works to deliver Linux for Intel across the whole stack:

Internet of Things

Choose the Linux OS that is optimized to run on Intel hardware. We work closely with Intel to create Ubuntu Core, Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server images for Intel IoT platforms, so that you can build the IoT solution that best suits your needs.

Telco

Benefit from carrier-grade solutions based on open source for core, regional and edge telco clouds, including OpenStack, Kubernetes and Ubuntu for Intel. Reduce infrastructure costs whilst maintaining reliable, secure and feature-rich networks.

Industrial

Intel and Canonical have partnered to ensure easy access to advanced silicon for embedded solutions, with the immutable Ubuntu Core operating system - our embedded OS that is lightweight and tailored to run on specific Intel hardware.

Benefit from support
for the latest hardware

Be at the leading edge when developing your solutions, without compromising on security. Canonical works closely with Intel to ensure that hardware platforms and advanced capabilities receive early enablement with a well thought out path for long term stability and support.

Custom Internet of Things images for Intel

Advanced optimizations and capability support are available for Intel network and edge platforms. Canonical offers support through custom IoT images for Ubuntu Desktop, Ubuntu Server and Ubuntu Core.

Real-time Ubuntu for Intel SoCs

Ensure that high-priority processes are executed first with Real-time Ubuntu. Canonical and Intel collaborate to deliver real-time for Ubuntu 22.04 on 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors with TSN and TCC Support.

Hardware enablement (HWE) stacks

The HWE stack includes a rolling kernel for the most recent Ubuntu LTS release, so that users can take advantage of new hardware platform support of newer kernels. The final HWE kernel for an LTS release is the same as the next LTS release, and receives the LTS commitment.

Ubuntu Releases

The optimization and feature support for Intel platforms intercepts future Ubuntu releases, including images that receive up to 12 years of long term support with the Ubuntu Pro subscription.

Secure data and AI applications with confidential computing based on Intel TDX

Threats to an enterprise's data continue to evolve and become more sophisticated. Notifications of new data breaches are becoming more frequent, and they arise from both internal threats as well as external actors that have managed to compromise the enterprise's infrastructure.

Confidential computing is a technology that protects data when it's in use, even against a zero-day vulnerability in the hypervisor or attackers that have access to the servers - whether that's a rogue administrator, your cloud provider or an external attacker.

Canonical has integrated the Intel TDX technology, and made it available for use in Ubuntu on Intel hardware that supports it. Either deploy confidential computing in a private datacenter, or access it in the leading public clouds, including Azure, Google Cloud, or directly in the Intel Tiber Developer Cloud.

Accelerate data and AI applications with Ubuntu for Intel

Canonical and Intel partner closely to ensure that data and AI applications can draw upon the most advanced hardware capabilities and accelerators in just a few commands. With Canonical's portfolio of data applications, AI tools, and infrastructure software, you'll be getting the most out of the hardware.

RAG, Confidential AI and LLM use cases benefit from Intel features and accelerators like Intel TDX, AVX and QAT to enhance performance of vector search, data compression, and machine learning capabilities.

Deploy open source storage across all sizes of infrastructure, from edge to data center, and leverage enhanced capabilities like Intel QAT acceleration for compression and encryption.

Easily develop and deploy your machine learning models using Charmed Kubeflow, on any infrastructure including support for Intel GPUs.

The Canonical Data Science Stack is an out-of-the-box solution to develop and optimize models, designed to run on any Intel workstation without spending time on tooling setup.
