Hello Ubuntu Server!

The purpose of this communication is to provide a status update and highlights for any interesting subjects from the Ubuntu Server Team. Spotlight: cloud-init 17.2

As announced, cloud-init 17.2 was released this week. From the announcement, some highlights include:

  • CLI added the clean and status subcommands
  • Support for identifying OVF datasource provided by VMware
  • NoCloudKVM tests now run in continuous integration
  • Formalize DataSource get_data and related properties
  • Remove prettytable dependency and introduce simpletable

Version 17.2 is already available in Ubuntu Bionic. Onward to 18.1!

Newest Ubuntu Server Developer

After a sucessful vote by the DMB, congratulations to Andreas Hasenack the newest Ubuntu Server Developer.

cloud-init

  • Testing of 17.2 on EC2, Azure, and GCE and release to Ubuntu Bionic
  • Complete 17.1.46 SRU to Ubuntu Xenial, Zesty, and Artful
  • Fix documentation around ‘init’ mode for modules subcommand (LP: #1736600)
  • Tooling to merge community authored branches into master
