Meet Canonical at PEARC23

With PEARC23 just around the corner, now is a great time to get in touch with Canonical on all things HPC. Meet our team at the conference in Portland, Oregon on 23-27 July.

About PEARC23

PEARC23 is part of the PEARC conference series, which provides a forum for discussing challenges, opportunities, and solutions among the broad range of participants in the research computing community. You can expect to hear about all the relevant topics in the space and hear more about workloads that run on high-performance computing clusters, such as complex computational or numerical workloads, advanced simulations, High-Performance Data Analytics (HPDA), and AI/ML.

Make sure to visit our partners’ booths. Intel will be attending and demonstrating lots of great content. OEM partners such as Lenovo, HPE, and Dell will be showcasing the latest servers with plenty of Ubuntu-certified options.

Container usage and training at HPC Centers

Containers provide many benefits for High-Performance Computing (HPC) users, including portability and continuity. Still, it can be challenging to build a container strategy and deploy and manage this for system administrators. Birds-of-a-Feather (BOF) is centred around the idea that containers can be used in different ways depending on the type of HPC centre, the expertise of the users and system administrators, and the type of software stack being utilised. During this session, we plan on sharing experiences and discussing how to meet the needs of various users and research groups.

Jason C. Nucciarone from Canonical, Adam Lavely from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Chuck Pavloski from The Pennsylvania State University, Christopher Blanton from North Carolina State University and Jeffrey J. Nucciarone from The Pennsylvania State University

If you are unable to attend the event, feel free to look at some of our content, like our recent introductory series on HPC and our Guide to HPC. If you want to learn more about how Canonical can help you with High-performance computing contact us.

Canonical’s recipe for High Performance Computing

HPC HPC

In essence, High Performance Computing (HPC) is quite simple. Speed and scale. In practice, the concept is quite complex and hard to achieve. It is not dissimilar to what happens when you go from a regular car to a supercar or a hypercar – the challenges and problems you encounter at 100 km/h are vastly ...
