# Alternative install methods for MicroK8s

MicroK8s is spectacularly easy to install and use on Ubuntu or any Linux which supports snaps - see the [Getting started tutorial](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/getting-started). For other platforms or less common scenarios, see the relevant notes and links below.

### [Virtualisation](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/install-alternatives?format=md#p-19979-virtualisation)

* Using [LXD](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/install-lxd) for MicroK8s
* Installing with [Multipass](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/install-multipass)

### [Platforms/Hardware](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/install-alternatives?format=md#p-19979-platformshardware)

* [NVIDIA DGX](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/nvidia-dgx)
* [Raspberry Pi/arm](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/install-raspberry-pi)
* GPUs: These are supported through an [add-on](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/addons) enabled after MicroK8s has been installed. See the [gpu addon docs](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/addon-gpu) for more details.

### [Other environments](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/install-alternatives?format=md#p-19979-other-environments)

* [Using strict confinement](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/install-strict)

* [Installing EKS-D](https://canonical.com/microk8s/docs/eks-d) with MicroK8s.

### Other architectures

Currently MicroK8s is actively tested and developed on amd64 and arm64. If you run into difficulties running on other architectures (e.g. PPC/S390), please follow the procedure to [file a bug](https://canonical.com/docs/troubleshooting#heading--report-bug)
