What we are looking for

The web team at Canonical are looking for someone that is motivated to deliver great work. We are looking for someone that has a passion to learn and extend their skill set across the web landscape. Someone that likes to think outside of the box and come up with creative solutions. A person that wants to work at the cutting edge of web technology and help push it further and further.

Team culture for us is key. The most important thing is that you love what you do and a big part of that is the people you work with. We would like you to be curious about new things but there is by no means a requirement to be on top of all the latest things. The web world moves fast and we move with it but pride our importance on mental health and a big part of that is know when you turn off and decompress.

Here at Canonical, we define our own role which helps to limit the barriers to career progression. If you love what you do then you will shine and be valued for your great work.

What you will be doing

A common question is, what is a day in the life of the web developer at Canonical. This can always differ from day to day but on average this would be a day.

We start the day with a team stand-up in the morning. Where we catch up on the progress of the projects and see if there is anything blocking someone.

Followed by some time to work on assigned tasks. These could range from a new feature to our web applications, fixing a typo on a web page or creating a new component in our styling framework, etc.

Lunch is important, we all take an hour to eat, talk, walk, play games, etc. Whatever it is you enjoy doing.

The afternoon may contain a meeting or two which we take communal meeting notes for so attending is not necessary if you deem yourself optional.

We all clock off at the end of the day and even though we have a team chat group we never expect work to be done after hours.

Nice to have

Please do not feel you need to tick all of these boxes. No one is a robot!
