Pycom is the company behind the disruptive products such as the [LoPy](https://www.pycom.io/solutions/py-boards/lopy/) and [SiPy](https://www.pycom.io/solutions/py-boards/sipy/) which enable developers to easily get LoRa and Sigfox low-power WAN (LPWAN) communication happening. Their latest product, the FiPy combines LoRa, Sigfox and LTE-CAT M1/NB1. All also support Bluetooth Low Energy and WiFi. The exciting thing about LPWAN is that you can use these low bandwidth communications protocols over very long distances. It is possible to use for instance LoRa in a private network whereby, for example, you can have several battery operated LoPy modules connected to soil sensors in the field and a LoPy connected to a Raspberry Pi in the farm and you are able to show a real-time dashboard to the farmer. It’s super quick to set up and a very cost effective way of getting field data to mission control.

Pycom and Canonical are collaborating to make sure snaps are available to easily use any of the LoPy, SiPy or FiPy connecting to any Ubuntu Core system.

This is exciting news for developers who want to innovate with LPWAN-based solutions while combining technologies for edge of network products.

It will not be long before Pycom will show how easy it is to use snaps to integrate the development modules with Ubuntu Core devices like Raspberry Pi and other snap enabled wireless devices like the [LimeSDR](https://www.crowdsupply.com/lime-micro/limesdr).
