During those days, we’ve been looking into our short and long term plans, worked together on our upcoming clustering feature, discussed the ongoing work on the new image building tooling and got to debug a number of kernel issues. A few friends from Cisco, NVIDIA, Kinvolk, Efficios and Emesa also joined us, spending some time chatting and working with us. Over the weekend, we headed to FOSDEM, attending a few talks on the Saturday and catching up with various people there. On Sunday we were running the containers devroom which ended up pretty much full all day long with about 400 attendees. We had a good mix of container related talks, covering everything from low level kernel features to much higher level orchestration and management tools. We’ll be publishing a separate post with links to the video recordings as soon as they’re all up. As we’re all back home now, we’ll now be focusing on getting the few last pieces of our various 3.0 releases in order before we can start tagging alphas and betas very soon! ## Upcoming conferences and events * [GPU technology conference](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/gtc/topics/data-center-and-cloud/#christian-brauner) (San Jose, March 2018) ## Ongoing projects The list below is feature or refactoring work which will span several weeks/months and can’t be tied directly to a single Github issue or pull request. * [Distributed database for LXD clustering1](https://github.com/lxc/lxd/pull/4016) * [New image generation tool for LXC/LXD1](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/issues/2072) * Various kernel work * Stable release work for LXC, LXCFS and LXD ## Upstream changes The items listed below are highlights of the work which happened upstream over the past week and which will be included in the next release. ### LXD * Fixed [`lxc config metadata edit`](https://github.com/lxc/lxd/pull/4206). * Switched to using the [pids cgroup as our default fork bomb protection](https://github.com/lxc/lxd/pull/4215). * Added [some more static analysis tests1](https://github.com/lxc/lxd/pull/4216). * Fixed a [race in the proxy device tests](https://github.com/lxc/lxd/pull/4218). ### LXC * Added a [new “UNPRIVILEGED” field in lxc-ls’ fancy output](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/2044). * Made the [`-n` parameter option in most tools1](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/2114). * Fixed some [bugs in the legacy network config parser1](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/2116). * Added [support for cgroupv2 to liblxc and in the configuration](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/2117). * Fixed a [build issue following the removal of the libapparmor dependency](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/2119). * Fixed [building Debian wheezy containers](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/2120). * Made [some tweaks to the nvidia hook](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/2126). * Switched lxc-init to [use SIGKILL after it reaches its timeout1](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/2129). * Made the [monitor send sigterm to the container when it receives sighup1](https://github.com/lxc/lxc/pull/2130). ### LXCFS * Nothing to report ## Distribution work This section is used to track the work done in downstream Linux distributions to ship the latest LXC, LXD and LXCFS as well as work to get various software to work properly inside containers. ## Ubuntu * LXD 2.21-0ubuntu3 was uploaded to Ubuntu 18.04 including a variety of fixes. ## Snap * Added code to include both ZFS 0.6 and 0.7 in the snap, selecting the tools based on the available kernel module version. * Moved the LXD database from the versioned path to the common path. ## Sign up for our newsletter Get the latest Canonical news and updates in your inbox.
