It’s hard to believe that the first KubeCon took place nearly 10 years ago. Back then, Kubernetes was still in its early days, and the world was only just beginning to understand the power of container orchestration. Fast-forward to today, and Kubernetes is a fundamental part of cloud-native development, taught in universities as a key skill for working with modern infrastructure, whilst containers have become essential to how modern applications are built, deployed, and scaled. It’s a testament to how quickly the technological landscape shifts and changes!

At Canonical, we’ve seen this evolution firsthand. Over the years, Kubernetes has evolved to become the standard in container management, but organizations still struggle with things like security maintenance. Security is also pressing when it comes to containers and their dependencies. Our [latest research](https://canonical.com/blog/70-of-it-teams-spend-more-than-6-hours-per-week-on-security-patching-new-idc-research) shows that 7  in 10 organizations spend over 6 hours per week on patching, which is almost one full workday spent just on manual and time-consuming patching every week.

We’re excited to be part of KubeCon Europe 2025, taking place from April 1-4 in London, to showcase how we help teams optimize their containers for maximum performance and minimal attack surface. We look forward to meeting you at booth S340!

**Canonical at booth S340: trusty  and optimized Ubuntu containers to run on any infrastructure**

Among the demos we’re preparing, the new and exciting one focuses on container optimization. With organizations facing the challenge of managing growing container sizes and security vulnerabilities, this demo demonstrates how Canonical’s container tooling allows you to have a production grade OCI image for your flask applications in 3 commands. The demo also showcases the effects of chiselling unnecessary packages to reduce the image size, minimizing CVEs, while maintaining integrity of the image. This approach helps streamline container management, improving efficiency and enhancing security for your applications.

We will also present an efficient AI inferencing demo. Running on the Next Computing Fly-away kit with Ampere® Altra® processors. The setup features Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS and Canonical Kubernetes 1.32, Canonical’s lightweight Kubernetes distribution, as the core platform enabling scalable, production-grade AI. The demo walks through real-time object detection using YOLOv8, deployed and managed with Canonical Kubernetes., highlighting how Canonical helps businesses run performant, energy-efficient AI workloads across edge and data center environments.

We look forward to seeing you at these sessions!

**After-party: Containers & Connections with Ubuntu**

This KubeCon is even more special because it takes place in London, where Canonical’s global office is located. After KubeCon, we’re extending an invitation for you to join us at our office for our Containers & Connections after-party! Whether you’re a cloud-native expert, platform engineer, or seasoned Kubernetes enthusiast, this is the perfect chance to continue the conversation in a more relaxed setting. Join us for an evening of networking, fun, and great discussions about the latest trends in cloud-native technologies.
