Ubuntu Certified Professional
The Ubuntu Certified Professional is a training certification based on the LPI level 1 certification. To earn the UPC, candidates are required to pass the LPI 101, LPI 102 and the Ubuntu (LPI 199) exams. Exams can be written in any order. A candidate already holding a valid LPI level 1 certification will only be required to pass the Ubuntu exam.
The course is designed for System Administrator levels and tests the candidate's ability to:

Perform easy maintenance tasks: help out users, add users to a larger system, backup & restore, shutdown & reboot

Install and configure a workstation (including X) and connect it to a LAN, or a stand-alone PC via modem to the Internet.

Work with the Linux command line
An official LPI and Ubuntu Certification of Achievement will awarded be candidates who pass the exam/s.
Training
Structured training programmes, preparing candidates to meet the LPI101, 102 and Ubuntu 199 objectives will be available from Q2 2007. Please watch this space for more details.

Exam Registration
The Ubuntu Certified Professinoal Certification exam (as well the prerequisite LPI exams) are available at all Thomson Prometric and Pearson VUE testing centres worldwide.
Please note that you need to register and obtain an LPI ID before taking the Ubuntu or LPI exams for the first time. To do this, please visit the LPI ID registration web page.
Have your LPI ID ready before registering for an exam, and please bring your LPI ID and a current photo ID to the testing centre.
Also note that you will not be permitted to bring a computer, books, camera or cell phone into the testing facility.
Please take note of the following Ubuntu exam retake policy:

Anyone taking the Ubuntu exam for the first time must wait at least one week before re-taking.

Anyone who takes the Ubuntu exam a second (and subsequent) time must wait at least 90 days before re-taking.

Anyone who passes the Ubuntu exam may not retake that exam for at least two years.
